Tomorrow is the NBA's All-Star Game which means we are in the middle of the pregame festivities. Golden States Steph Curry won the three point shootout and Minnesota rookie Zach LaVine won the dunk contest.
I enjoy watching the three point contest, but lets be honest the slam dunk contest is a complete joke. First of all the league's best dunkers are never in the contest. Back in the 80's and 90's the best dunkers wanted to be in the contest and now they enter once and never enter again. The other reason the contest is a joke is because of the format. Each dunker gets a certain amount of time and as long as they make one dunk that dunk will be scored. For instance, Victor Oladipo of the Orlando Magic missed his first two dunk and that makes a awesome dunk on his last attempt. The score, perfect ten's across the board! Are you kidding me? Yes the dunk was great but just the fact that it took so long for him to make one should tell you that that's not perfect. He should have gotten 9's. The dunk contest would be so much more exciting if each person got one dunk. You make it you get a score. This forces guys to concentrate on the dunk and not all the antics before the dunk.
